When choosing an editing program, look at your own needs. Whatever the reason, there’s likely a Lightroom alternative to suit you!Ĭonsider Your Needs Before Settling on a Lightroom Alternative You might even be able to save some money by switching to a Lightroom alternative. In fact, you might find you prefer the layout and tools of another program. But, There’s also no harm trying out the Lightroom alternatives. Fingers crossed it is in L4 but not holding my breath.Sure, you may already be familiar with Lightroom. Anyway, mis-aligned images are a pain and slow down workflow simply because it is not on Luminar. Even if I brought it back to Luminar it is no longer a RAW file. Mis-alignments have to go back to Lightroom Photoshop combo. I use a heavy tripod and geared head however Sony's software PlayMemories is so bad that I am forced to touch the camera between shots and that sometimes means alignment problems. All the programs listed (that have layers) have this feature except Luminar. The only feature that I really need for my workflow and should be standard for a program that has layers is auto align layers. Works just like Photoshop where On1 and Affinity it does not. In luminar you can.Īnother feature that LU got right was Darken mode. Masking, LR limits the tools you can use, no HSL masking for instance. First and foremost is layers, LU yes, LR no. However new sells, buggy and incomplete stuff does not! I am not saying the Skylum business model is wrong, but I really wish that they would as a minimum fix a buggy and incomplete program before switching to something new. I have been sitting on the sideline enjoying that I did not upgrade (for free) back in November 2018 since that ride seems to have been a real bumpy ride with the result of that Luminar 2018 became Luminar 3 and Flex, which I read between the lines are going to die in 2020 when the new Luminar 4 hits the circuit.
